Citizens under the age of 35 and residing in Zimbabwe are cordially invited to post a 1 minute pitch video of their best Start-up idea for a COVID-19 related solution. Please post this MAXIMUM 60 second video on your personal Instagram account with the following 2 hashtags: #TASC2020 & #ZimCOVIDsolutions. The best 20 videos will be selected and asked to present virtually a 5 min shark-tank style pitch at TASC 2020 on May 25, 2020. The winner of that final competition will receive $US1000 cash among other prizes to incentivize their S.T.E.A.M Entrepreneurship in Zimbabwe. Your idea can be anything ranging from sewing & distributing masks to as complicated as app development for COVID tracking just make sure to highlight the Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and/or Mathematics nature of it in your 1 minute pitch video and to post by the deadline below.

Announcement of Zimbabwean DIASPORA CONVERSATION DURING JUDGES DELIBERATION

Since this conference is a great opportunity for the unification of continental and diaspora Zimbabweans, AfricaNow’s Michelle Mvundura will be hosting a 40 minute panel discussion during the judges competition deliberation time with Zimbabweans from all around the world to check in on the state of our globally dispersed population. Below are the panelists are Zimbabweans based in South Africa, Namibia, UK, Germany, China, US, Zimbabwe and more. Some topics to be covered are;

1. How are Zimbabweans dealing with COVID related stress away from families,

2. How are different countries dealing with COVID-19 from a Zimbabwean immigrant point of view and

3. What tips and tricks can we learn about keeping in contact virtually from people who’ve had to to do it long before COVID.

Since the conference will be hosted virtually, the authors of selected #TASC2020 & #ZimCOVIDsolutions videos will be invited to conference rehearsals to ensure no technical difficulties for the conference day. There will no OFFICIAL announcement of selected winners and those not selected will not be formally notified. If you are not contacted by May 23rd then please assume that you have NOT been selected and continue to pitch your idea as many eyes will be upon Zimbabwe and our hope is that everyone feels encouraged because even though we are selecting based on our LIMITED resources, your ideas are important and can be funded by others who support you.
